McAdam On Toucher & Rich: Sox Clubhouse 'Not Exactly A Hot Bed Of Positive Vibes'

The Red Sox are once again over .500 after a seven to five win over the Miami Marlins at Fenway Park on Tuesday night.

Sean McAdam spoke with 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich about the vibe in the Red Sox clubhouse, Dustin Pedroia re-injuring his thumb and whether Roger Clemens would get his Hall of Fame vote after his not guilty verdict.

There were reports that players on this team were unhappy, but then Josh Beckett and David Ortiz came out and said that wasn't the case. What does McAdam think is going on behind the scenes?

"You can definitely feel some tension in there. I think there is some left over stuff from last September, I think that Bobby Valentine is somewhat detached from the players and given that this is now a one game over .500 team, it's not exactly a hot bed of positive vibes in there."

Does a part of it stem from Kevin Youkilis, due to the fact that the only time his name is mentioned it's trade talks?

"I don't see a huge dramatic change in his personality or attitude or approach."

Earlier this month Dustin Pedroia tore a muscle in his right thumb, which caused him to miss six games. Pedroia left the win last night after apparently aggravating the injury on a seventh-inning popout. How serious is it and can anyone be blamed for playing him so soon after the injury?
