BOSTON (CBS) – Aaron Hernandez won’t be showing up on the football field any time soon and that includes the virtual world too.

Hernandez, who is currently being held without bail in the Bristol County Jail charged with first-degree murder, has been removed from this year’s versions of EA’s popular football games, NCAA Football ’14 and Madden NFL 25, an EA spokesperson told

A photo of a Hernandez “Ultimate Team Item” from NCAA Football ’14 made its rounds on Twitter Monday morning, but EA says it will be removed in a future update.

“We made a decision to remove Aaron Hernandez from Madden NFL 25 and NCAA Football 14. Because NCAA Football 14 was finalized prior to our decision, Hernandez’ image still appears in the Nike Skills Trainer,” a spokesperson for EA Sports told

“However, he is not in the game, and anyone who unlocks that particular Nike Skills Trainer reward will receive an Alex Smith Ultimate Team player item instead. The image of Hernandez will be removed via a Title Update in the near future.”
