Patriots Fans Line Up To Trade In Hernandez Jerseys In Foxboro

FOXBORO (CBS) – Long lines of Patriots fans traded in their Aaron Hernandez jerseys at the New England Patriots pro shop on Saturday.

The Patriots ProShop announced last week that it would be offering a free jersey exchange to any fans looking to get rid of their No. 81 Hernandez jerseys.

The ProShop was accepting in-person exchanges Saturday and Sunday. The deal only applied to fans who purchased jerseys at the ProShop or at PatriotsProShop.com.

As of 5 p.m., Vince Wilfork and Tom Brady jerseys were among the most popular, and the Patriots reported fans had exchanged at least 1,200 Hernandez jerseys.

Hernandez, 23, was charged with murder last week and remains under investigation for an unsolved double murder in Boston last July.

Jerseys and all other Hernandez memorabilia were taken off the team's website and pulled from the shelves shortly after the team released him. Most jerseys retail at the Patriots ProShop for $99.95, though authentic game jerseys sell for $249.95.
