School’s out for the day. If you aren’t stuck in the house, here are some ideas that will definitely keep you busy (assuming these places are open). Boston boasts an array of quality places for shopping, dining, and fun. And you won’t have to worry about the weather being a factor. Here’s a guide to some of the best.

Go to a Museum

Boston is a world-class city when it comes to museums. The Museum of Science, the MFA, the ICA, and Isabella Gardner Museum are some of its most famous. If none of those suit your taste, there are plenty of offbeat options as well.

Catch a Movie

It could be as simple as a trip to Loews on the Common. Or for an enhanced experience, go 3-D or try one of the area’s Drive-ins.

Curl up inside your closest public library or grab some reading from a local book store or library.

Have a Ball

There are plenty of places to have a ball with indoor sports. Strike back against the lousy weather at some of the area’s best bowling lanes. Shoot paintballs, shoot billiards, or shoot the breeze (so to speak) while putting your way through a game of indoor mini golf.
