Bruins Legend Ray Bourque: Unhappy 'About The Situation I Put Myself Into'

BOSTON (CBS) -- Legendary former Bruins player Ray Bourque says he accepts responsibility for his actions after he was arrested Friday night in an alleged drunken driving crash.

"I am not happy about the situation I put myself into on Friday night," Bourque said in a written statement. "I am a very proud person that accepts the responsibility of my actions and have always accepted being in the media eye."

"For the first time in my life, I find myself in unfamiliar territory," he said.

Andover Police responded to the crash on Lowell Street and Route 133 around 11:30 p.m.

Police say a Mercedes driven by Bourque rear-ended a minivan in a construction zone.

No one was hurt in the crash. Bourque has been charged with operating under the influence of alcohol.

"I am happy that no one was hurt in the accident and thank everyone who has reached out in support of my family and me," Bourque said.

Bourque was released on bail and will be arraigned Tuesday in Lawrence District Court.
