Bruins' Jonas Gustavsson Cleared To Practice But Not Play

BOSTON (CBS) -- Jonas Gustavsson has taken a baby step towards his return.

The Bruins' backup netminder was back on the ice Tuesday after being medically cleared to practice, one week after he was taken out of a game and rushed to the hospital with an elevated heart rate. He skated on his own on Monday, but joined his teammates for Tuesday's session.

Gustavsson hasn't been cleared for game action, according to B's head coach Claude Julien. The team placed him on injured reserve on Monday, and Julien announced that Malcolm Subban will serve as Tuukka Rask's backup for Tuesday night's game against the Maple Leafs.

Gustavsson, in his first season with Boston, is 9-3 with a 2.38 goals against average in 15 starts this season. He has had a history of heart procedures since coming into the NHL 2009.

Tune in to Tuesday night's Bruins-Maple Leafs game on 98.5 The Sports Hub -- the flagship station of the Boston Bruins. Pregame coverage with Dave Goucher and Bob Beers begins at 6:30pm!
