Bruins Place Gustavsson On IR; Recall Pastrnak, Subban From Providence

BOSTON (CBS) -- Jonas Gustavsson was placed on injured reserve on Monday, as the Bruins await test results on their backup goaltender.

Last week, the 31-year-old Gustavsson was pulled after the first period of a 6-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks and hospitalized with an elevated heart rate.

"We placed Jonas on Injured Reserve as we await his final test results," Bruins General Manager Don Sweeney said Monday. "Pending those final test results, he will be cleared for full participation by our medical staff."

Gustavsson appeared in 15 games for Boston this season, going 9-3-1 record with a 2.38 GAA and .915 save percentage. To take his spot as Tuukka Rask's backup, Boston recalled Malcolm Subban from Providence on an emergency basis.

Subban, Boston's first-round pick in 2012, appeared in 26 games for Providence this season and recorded a 14-8-4 record with a 2.45 GAA and .913 save percentage. He is 45-31-13 record with five shutouts during his AHL career.

The Bruins also announced on Monday that they've recalled forward David Pastrnak from Providence. The 19-year-old has five goals and four assists in 18 games with the Bruins this season. He had one goal and three assists in three games for Providence.

Both Subban and Pastrnak will join the Bruins for Monday's practice. Boston hosts the Toronto Maple Leafs at the TD Garden on Tuesday night in their first game after the NHL's All-Star break.
