Patriots Reportedly Trade For OG Ryan Groy
BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots reportedly made a trade on Monday that will add a little more depth to their offensive line.
New England has acquired second-year guard Ryan Groy from the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Network. The former undrafted free agent out of Wisconsin spent last season between the Bears practice squad and active roster, appearing in four games. He started three of the four games he appeared in, playing a total of 237 snaps.
Now the 24-year-old Groy, who stands at 6-foot-5 and 320-pounds, will compete in Patriots camp for a job protecting Tom Brady.
In return for Groy, the Patriots sent linebacker Matthew Wells to Chicago, according to ESPN's Field Yates.
Earlier Monday, the Patriots released third-string quarterback Matt Flynn and signed QB Ryan Lindley.
