Roger Goodell: 'There Is No Timeline' On Deciding On Tom Brady's Appeal
BOSTON (CBS) -- Will DeflateGate ever come to an end? Perhaps some day, but the finish line is not necessarily in sight just yet, according to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Goodell spoke to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review on Tuesday, and while he said the Tom Brady appeal is getting his and the league's attention, there's no end date planned.
"There is no timeline," Goodell said, per the Tribune-Review. "We want to make sure we have a fair and open process."
Brady met with Goodell for more than 10 hours on June 23 in New York City for his appeal hearing, as the quarterback was fighting the four-game suspension issued to him based on his alleged role in slight deflation of footballs which might have happened prior to the AFC Championship Game in January.
What Goodell eventually decides is anybody's guess, but the commissioner said Tuesday that he and the league is working as quickly as they can.
"We are focused on it," Goodell said. "We are obviously being very thorough and want to make sure we consider all aspects of his appeal. We will make a decision as quickly as possible."
Brady and the Patriots report to training camp next Wednesday, July 29.
