Snow on the tracks has severely limited service on some days, and shut down the entire system on others.

One Boston University student is coming to the rescue, handing out "Optimism Tickets."

The project is part of Alice Donovan's graduate work as a graphic designer.

To spread positive energy, she is handing out Charlie Cards with uplifting sayings on them like "Everything is going to be OK."

"I am T rider so I experience this on a daily basis and I was noticing that people were really down," Donovan says. "The general consensus was not good and I was wondering if I could bring up the tone, bring up the vibe because at the end of the day this isn't the worst thing that is happening in the world."

Donovan printed 900 tickets and plans to hand them out again Friday morning at Park Street station.
