BOSTON (CBS) – A Conway, New Hampshire girl who went missing last October is back home.

Authorities say 15-year-old Abigail Hernandez was “safely reunited with her family” Sunday night.

Hernandez went missing after leaving Kennett High School at the end of the school day on October 9. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

WBZ NewsRadio 1030’s Bernice Corpuz reports

Police have said she walked her normal route toward home that day and sent several text messages to a friend between 2:30 and 3 p.m. Two weeks after she disappeared, she sent a letter to her mother.

According to the New Hampshire Attorney General’s office, “Further details will be provided once it has been determined that releasing additional information will not compromise the integrity of the on-going criminal investigation.”

Zenya Hernandez, Abigail’s mother, told law enforcement officers that “today we are the happiest people on earth.”
