Tebow Practices With Brady, Mallett On First Day With Patriots

BOSTON (CBS) -  Tim Tebow took his place next to fellow quarterbacks Tom Brady and Ryan Mallett on Tuesday -- his first practice with the New England Patriots.

Tebow was sporting a red no-contact jersey on the practice field in Foxboro as he put in his work with the other Patriots play-callers. The number-5 graced the back of his helmet, and the team later confirmed that would be his jersey number for the season.

Tebow had been wearing #15 throughout college and pro career, but that jersey is taken by Mallett.

Tebow spoke briefly after the practice but did not take any questions from the sea of reporters waiting for him.

Head coach Bill Belichick already addressed the media on Tuesday, but did not shed much light on how the Patriots will use Tebow. He is expected to be the team's third quarterback, but reports also surfaced that he could do some work with the New England tight ends.

"We're going to do whatever is best for our football team. We'll see," Belichick said of Tebow on Tuesday.
