FOXBORO (CBS) – A large crowd of media members stood patiently as they waited for Tim Tebow to come answer questions following his first practice with the New England Patriots.
Then, there was a bit of a stir as Tebow walked over. Everyone jockeyed for positioning so, for starters, they could hear the new third-string quarterback, but also be ready when their turn came to ask a question over the dozens of microphones, recorders and smart phones recording such a historic moment.
But no questions were asked, because Tebow never gave them a chance. Instead, the newest Patriot gave a quick statement, and just like that, was off into his new locker room with his new teammates.
“I’ll speak loud enough for everyone to hear,” he said upon seeing the sea of reporters, never an uncommon sight for Tebow.
“First and foremost I want to thank the Patriots. I’m very thankful; it’s such an honor to be a Patriot and play for coach Belichick and coach McDaniels, learn under Tom and be a part of this great franchise,” he said. “It’s a very successful franchise – I found that out firsthand; I’ve lost to them several times.”
“It’s going to be a lot of fun. I look forward to working hard every day and learning under some great people.”

“That’s all I got but thank you all so much and God bless. I’m sure we’ll be talking more soon,” he said with a smile.
With that, Tebow was gone. All that was left was that large crowd of reporters, reflecting on a quick, generic comment that must make even Bill Belichick proud.
While it’s unclear how long it will take for Tebow to learn the Patriots’ complex playbook, it’s pretty clear it didn’t take long for him to adapt to the “Patriot Way” with the media.
