Mashpee Man Arrested After Allegedly Attacking Wife With Hammer

MASHPEE (CBS) - A man accused of attacking his wife with a hammer is under arrest.

Police say 49-year-old Stanley Pells took off after the alleged attack Thursday morning that landed the victim in the hospital.

Late Thursday night, a witness spotted Pells walking in the road. Officers picked up Pells a short time later.

He's set to be arraigned on charges Friday morning in Falmouth.

Family members told WBZ-TV the couple had been married for 25 years with no history of problems, but they had been going though "challenging times" trying to get help for their son who is suffering from a mental illness.
