Early Morning Fire Destroys Plymouth Cottage

PLYMOUTH (CBS) - The State Fire Marshal's office is looking into an early morning fire that destroyed a home in Plymouth.

The house on Sea View Drive caught fire around 3 a.m. The street is lined with several seasonal cottages, but this home was used year-round. The residents who lived there were away for the holidays when the fire broke out.

The fire began next to a couch in the living room, investigators said. The exact cause has not been determined. Investigators say the most likely cause was electrical.

There have been nearly two dozen arson fires south of Boston over the last three months. However, Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said in a statement said this does not appear to be related.

"There is no evidence to suggest this was an intentionally-set fire," he said.
