BOSTON (CBS) – Police have confirmed it was an MBTA bus that struck and killed a Boston University student in a hit-and-run Monday evening, according to NewsRadio 1030’s Carl Stevens.

The 21-year-old man was hit at the intersection of Brighton Ave. and Harvard Ave at about 6:15 p.m.
He was rushed to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center but did not survive.
His name has not been released.
“Sad start to the day,” Kenn Elmore, Boston University’s Dean of Students, wrote on Twitter Tuesday. “Time to check in with family and friends – let them know you love them and you’re alright. Peace.”
An MBTA driver was taken out of service while police and the Suffolk District Attorney’s office investigate.
The driver is a 58-year-old man who has six years of service with the T. His name has not been made public.
