Bruins Chara Says Bar Bill Exaggerated, 'Nowhere Near Actual Price'

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Bruins $156,000 bar bill at Foxwoods Casino has been a hot topic , but the Bruins captain is saying it is greatly exaggerated.

"That number that is posted up is nowhere near what the actual price of the bill was," Zdeno Chara said before the NHL awards in Las Vegas. "All I have to say is we are very disappointed that something like this is coming out that is not true."

"I'm not sure how it got out," he said. "That was our first and only night we had as a team together. We went out to Foxwoods to have a normal good time, nothing crazy. We started the night bowling and having some snacks, then we moved to the bar and basically had a night out."

"We had been given, as a gift, the bottle of champagne from Foxwoods," said Chara. "We knew that after we were finished with it, we would sign it and Foxwoods would be auctioning it off."
