Handcuffed Man Who Escaped Police Cruiser Found In Dryer

ROCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – A handcuffed man who escaped from the back of a police cruiser was captured Tuesday – in a clothes dryer.

27-year-old Michael Mendoza was originally taken into custody May 13 for allegedly violating probation and possessing oxycontin.

As a police officer drove him up to the station, Mendoza jumped out the rear window of the police cruiser and ran away handcuffed.

Police searched for him for 11 days.

They tracked Mendoza down at his home in Rochester Tuesday evening with his wife.

Officers found him the basement, hiding in the dryer.

Mendoza's wife Alysia was also arrested.  She's charged with hindering apprehension, which is a misdemeanor.
