Handcuffed Man Escapes From Police Cruiser

ROCHESTER, N.H. (CBS) – Police are looking for help tracking down a handcuffed man who escaped from an officer's cruiser last week.

27-year-old Michael Mendoza was taken into custody late Friday night for allegedly violating probation and possessing oxycontin.

As a police officer drove up to the station, Mendoza got away.

"Mendoza jumped out the rear window of the police cruiser and escaped on foot. He was handcuffed, with the handcuffs in front of his body, at the time of his escape. Officers lost contact of Mendoza in the area of Hanson Street which is a block away from the station," police said in a statement.

Mendoza is 5-feet-9-inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.

He was last seen wearing black shorts, a black t-shirt and sandals.

Anyone with information should call the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7127.
