EASTON (CBS) — A young man accused of killing his mother at the beginning of the month in Easton is now charged with murder.

Matthew Worster, 17, was initially charged with armed assault with intent to murder. The charge was upgraded to murder Friday.

Worster is accused of shooting his mother and burying her body in her backyard on Union Street.

The property is described as a compound. Spartichino’s ex-husband lives in one home and Spartichino in another.

When Worcester was initially arrested on May 4, prosecutors said he left a cryptic message on his father’s voice mail shortly after the killing saying he had done something that needed to be done.

Worster was a student at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, but he recently dropped out.
