BOSTON (CBS) – The Golden State Warriors have bought out forward Troy Murphy, who is expected to join either the Boston Celtics or Miami Heat, according to reports.
The San Jose Mercury News first reported the buyout. Murphy was slated to earn $2.7 million for the rest of the season. He needed to be bought out before March 1st to be eligible for another teams playoff roster.

Murphy, a nine-year veteran, was traded to Golden State from New Jersey last Thursday. He had not played for the Nets since January 7th, but averaged 14.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game in 2010 with the Indiana Pacers.

At 6-11, Murphy could give the Celtics some much-needed size and rebounding they lost in trading center Kendrick Perkins to the Oklahoma City Thunder last week.
