According to our baseball insider, Jon Heyman, the Boston Red Sox offered New York Yankees closer and future Hall-Of-Famer, Mariano Rivera, a three year contract.

Does this mean the Red Sox have lost faith in Jonathan Papelbon?

Will the Red Sox continue their effort in looking for other closing options? And, if they do continue searching for other options and come up empty, how will Papelbon react to this off-season?
