Illegally Dumped Boat Returns, This Time In Freetown

FREETOWN (CBS) -- In what the Wareham Harbormaster Department called a "blatant disrespect to public property," the very same boat that was illegally dumped on the side of Route 6 last week was left somewhere it shouldn't have been again--this time in Freetown State Forest.

Last Wednesday, the department asked the public for help identifying the owner of the boat, which they had observed being towed earlier that day. Later, the boat was identified as the same one in a Craigslist post--and shortly after that, the Wareham Harbormaster Department posted to their Facebook page last Thursday to let everyone know that Mattapoisett police had dealt with the issue.

Update 1/21/16, 13:50hrs: Thank you for everyone's help regarding the illegally dumped boat. The Mattapoisett Police Department has successfully taken care of the issue! Have a great day everyone!!

But the boat has returned. After they were alerted to a boat being dumped in Freetown State Forest, the Wareham Harbormaster Department drove to the scene Sunday night and found the same craft that was troubling them last week.

We cannot believe that we are bringing you this story again....... A blatant disrespect to public property and a repeat...

The owner of the boat has not been identified by police. The department said they would follow up with the Massachusetts Environmental Police, who were notified about the boat, in the morning.
