Mom Who Triggered Amber Alert Denied Custody Of Children

BOSTON (CBS) – A Pennsylvania woman who triggered an amber alert when she brought her young son to Boston to receive medical attention has yet to receive custody of her two children following the October incident.

A judge refused to restore full parental custody to Tiffany Cherry Thursday for her two-month-old son and his older brother.

On October 16, Cherry brought the infant to a Pennsylvania clinic and was told he was severely dehydrated and needed to be brought to an emergency room.

Instead, she drove several hours to Boston, sparking an Amber Alert that ended when she was arrested at Children's Hospital the next day.

Cherry previously told WBZ-TV that she has no regrets and added that her son was found to have issues with his esophagus and a low white blood count.

But nearly one month later, Cherry's children remain in the custody of relatives.

Cherry, who has previous arrests on her record, appeared in Boston Juvenile Court in hopes of getting the children back so she can return to Pennsylvania.

She is next scheduled to appear in court in connection with her Amber Alert arrest in January.
