Celtics Draft PF Jordan Mickey, PG Marcus Thornton In 2nd Round

BOSTON (CBS) -- It took them until the second round, but the Boston Celtics did indeed draft a big man on Thursday night.

Albeit an undersized big man, but one who has a knack for blocking shots.

With the 33rd overall pick, the Celtics drafted 6-8 power forward Jordan Mickey out of LSU. Though he's a little undersized and seen as a project pick, Mickey brings an impressive 7-foot-3 wingspan to the NBA that helped him average 3.4 blocked shots per contest over his two years at Louisiana State.

As a sophomore, Mickey averaged 15.4 points on 50 percent shooting, 9.9 rebounds and 3.6 blocked shots before a torn ACL ended his season in January. Mickey is expected to be ready to go for training camp.

Also in the second round, the Celtics drafted William & Mary point guard Marcus Thornton with the 45th selection. Thornton averaged 17.1 points per game over his four years in school, shooting 43 percent from the floor and 40 percent from three-point range.

Earlier in the night, they drafted point guard Terry Rozier 16th overall and shooting guard R.J. Hunter with the 28th selection.
