Cannons Paul Rabil Named MLL Player of the Year

BOSTON (CBS) -  For the second time in the last three seasons, Boston Cannons midfielder Paul Rabil has been named the MLL Offensive Player of the Year.

Rabil led the Cannons in 2011 with 28 goals in 11 games, including four two-point goals.

"Well it's quite an honor obviously, it's a goal of mine that I set going into each season; to perform well individually and with that being able to contribute to the team's ultimate success of winning games, and the two really go hand-in-hand for any player," said Rabil.

"We've done some great things and it trickles down from the top; obviously with [Bill Daye] winning Coach of the Year...and it's allowed my job to be a lot easier," he said.

Rabil, who was named MLL player of the week twice during the regular season, tallied at least two points in every game and scored two or more goals in nine games.

Rabil also won the award in 2009. Cannons attackman Matt Poskay earned the honor in 2010.
