THE DEFENSE

Q: This car is so cool. What's the coolest feature?

A: This car is a 750i, which means it has a V12 engine with a standard wheel base. This model was never offered in the US. I've never seen another one in the States.

Q: Seriously awesome. Where did you buy it?

A: It was my brother-in-law's. He used to live in Germany and brought it with him when he moved back to the States. He used it for a few more years and then sold it to me. I got a pretty good deal.

Q: Wow, so this car was imported?

A: Yeah, getting it registered and inspected in Massachusetts took a lot of calls to the EPA. But we finally got it passed.

Q: Huh. Most people would probably say that's a pretty good thing. How long have you been driving it?

A: I bought it in 2008, but I got to drive it on the Autobahn when it was in Germany.

Q: How fast did you get up to?

A: About 160.

Q: What other cars have you owned?

A: Over the years I've had a CJ7 and another BMW. I still have the first car I've ever owned, a Saab 900.

Q: What do you love about that car that made you hold onto it?

A: It just has a lot of sentimental value. I want to restore it someday.

Q: Do you use this car to commute to work?

A: No, I'm lucky enough to live within a mile from my office so I get to walk every day. It's generally just to run errands or to visit my parents.

Q: You seem like you really know cars, so what would be your dream car?

A: Probably a 1994 Porsche 911. That was the last year of the original body style.

Q: What else should we know about this car?

A: It's armored and has bullet-resistant glass!
