THE DEFENSE

Q: Nice BMW. What are you doing here at McDonald Park?

A: I like to go for walks here after work.

Q: Can you tell me a little about your car?

A: It's a black 2008 BMW 535 with a five-cylinder engine. It's really powerful and has all the bells and whistles.

Q: What kinds of bells and whistles?

A: It has leather, heated seats, a leather steering wheel, navigation and onboard cameras for backing up. It has flat run tires, so if you get a flat, you can drive at least 50-60 miles, while going slow, without changing your tires. But, my favorite feature is the BMW Assist. In case you're in an accident, they can notify your family members. If I get lost and my navigation doesn't work for some reason, they can actually assist me via satellite. They know my exact location. They can also remotely unlock the doors for me, if I lock my keys in the car.

Q: Have you had to use the BMW Assist before?

A: A few times, to unlock my car. I've locked my keys in my car a couple of times.

Q: What's the worst situation the BMW Assist has gotten you out of?

A: I was out at UMass Amherst. I left my keys in the car and had no cell service. I had to call from someone's landline, so they could unlock the doors for me.

Q: Do you think that since you have this service that you think less about whether or not you're going to leave your keys in the car?

A: Absolutely. It gives me peace of mind.

Q: What are you proud of about your car?

A: The gas mileage. I recently took a trip to Michigan to visit my family. I was surprised that it gave me about 25-26 mpg.

Q: What do you love most in the car?

A: I love the voice control because your hands are free whether it's the telephone or voice instructions. You can basically keep your hands off the buttons and it doesn't distract you. You can direct the navigation, change from CD to radio or make a phone call. You command it and it will do it for you.

Q: Did you buy the car new or used?

A: I bought in 2009 from a dealership and it had 30,000 miles on it.

Q: What made you buy this car?

A: I always liked the BMW 5 series. I was attracted to the looks of course, and the way it rides. The car rides really smoothly.

Q: What is your dream car?

A: I'm driving my dream car. If I were to buy another car, I would probably end up buying the same car.
