No conversation about Hispanic art could possibly be complete without mentioning Francisco Goya. This Spanish painter of the romantic persuasion was a court painter in Spain and, nearer the end of his career, print artist who dared to outright criticize the conflicts of his day, though not openly. A showing of his work this large has not happened in the U.S. for 25 years, so it is a real treat. It takes the viewer through the many themes and styles of Goya, from his commissioned works to his personal sketches.
