Let’s face it. Bacon may not be the healthiest option on the menu, but when it comes to taste, just about everything is better with bacon.

Breakfast is a given. So are bacon cheeseburgers. But there are all kinds of other fantastic and inspiring bacon-infused dishes on menus around Boston. Here are a few options that are a little out of the ordinary and are definitely worth trying.

The Dish: Bacon Fat Roasted Brussel Sprouts

Growing up when mom used to tell you to eat your brussel sprouts or you’d go to bed without dessert, it could be a struggle to force them down. Throw bacon into the mix and suddenly brussel sprouts ARE dessert. Moms everywhere, take note: we’re eating our brussel sprouts.

Gordita means “little fat one” in Spanish – and that’s before you add the bacon. Dali’s Gorditas consist of the salty-and-sweet combo of bacon-wrapped Prunes, stuffed with creamy Goat Cheese & crunchy almonds.

The Dish: Green Muenster Melt

There are grilled cheeses, there are grilled cheeses with bacon, and then there is Roxy’s Green Muenster Melt. Like its namesake suggests, this big gamer is stuffed with homemade guacamole (a lovely hue of green) and Muenster cheese – and it’s melted. Green Muenster Melt, get it? Sadly, the sandwich name makes no reference to our favorite ingredient. But we can assure you, Roxy completes every Green Muenster creation with mouthwatering slices of applewood bacon!

This relative newcomer to the Boston (Cambridge) restaurant scene serves up a the all-encompassing dish called the Bacon 3-Way. A hint of breakfast – fried quail eggs, gruyere cheese and lamb bacon; a touch of lunch – a maple bacon, confit tomato, and arugula version of the BLT; and bite of a cool, summery dessert – a balsamic drizzle over diced prosciutto and summer melon; they all combine to make the perfect meal of bacon, bacon and more bacon.
