Boston Area's Best Art Walks

Art walks let folks appreciate local art while enjoying the fresh air and a bit of exercise. Boston has several annual and permanent art walks that help offer people an alternative to the museums when they want to enjoy paintings, sculptures, etc. Unfortunately, some of these art walks only come once a year, but there are installations that visitors can enjoy year round. Waiting for an annual event does have its merits, though. Seeing all new pieces is always worth the wait.

The Chelsea Art Walk is an annual event that volunteers organize at the Pearl Street Gallery. Like most area art walks, it highlights the work of local artists who work in and around the walk itself, so it turns out much like an open studio event. There are many throughout the year, so anyone who is craving a bit of the Chelsea art community's offerings can keep a lookout for open showings. Once the walk comes around again, art lovers can either volunteer to help get it running or pop in to enjoy what is on display.

The Boston HarborWalk is not specifically an art walk as much as a culture and nature walk along Boston's harbor. However, it contains a wealth of art that visitors can enjoy while strolling along the water's edge. Pieces include sculptures, giant sea creatures, creative benches, paintings and much more. Be sure to stroll up to the buildings along the way, such as the World Trade Center, to check out the art they have to offer, as some of the best pieces in these neighborhoods belong to its structures. Artists from both near and far have contributed to this treat for art and nature lovers.
