Best Delicatessens South Of Boston

A delicatessen or deli, as it is more casually called, is a restaurant and, sometimes, a service counter to purchase cold cuts by the pound. Deli sandwiches are hearty and piled high with thinly sliced meat, topped with cheese, a creamy condiment and often with heaps of chopped veggies. Many delis also serve a variety of salads, including Greek, Caesar and tossed, which sport a variety of toppings that classify them as a full meal. There is an abundance of delicatessens just south of the city that offer delicious sandwiches and other specialty fare. Most true delicatessens serve classically Jewish-based food while others offer Italian and other specialty menus.
