Feet of Clay Pottery offers several class options from eight-week long packages to a single Friday Night Wheel session. Classes are very fairly priced, particularly the shorter ones, though the long-term offerings are worth it for those who are serious about learning how to make pottery. Anyone who would rather see and purchase pottery than make it can stop by the studio twice a year for its gallery openings.

About a half-hour drive outside of Boston is Lynn's The Clay School. Kirsten Bassion, who has an MFA in ceramics, owns the studio. Her teachers are skilled craftsmen who can assist students with both the artistic and technical points of playing with pottery. There is a full schedule of morning and night classes, including some classes for children. Both wheel-throwing and hand-building instruction are available. The Clay School also has hours available for coming in to have a baby's hand and footprints pressed in clay.

Despite its unprepossessing appearance, Mudville is a great place to get down and dirty with a pottery wheel. Learners of all abilities are welcome, so come in to get access to equipment or with no knowledge of ceramics. Teachers will help students learn the basics or iron out any difficulties they are having with a current project. Classes are three hours long and take place once a week. Students can hand-build, throw or glaze in the studio.

Newtonville's New Art Center is located about 20 minutes west of Boston. The center has a number of learning opportunities from painting to ceramics.
