BOSTON (CBS) – Bartenders from restaurants and nightclubs in and around Boston will begin squaring off this coming Wednesday, July 31, from 6-8 p.m. for the first round of the first annual “Battle of the Bars.”
The competition at The Harp on Causeway Street is free for spectators, with donations being collected for the Boston-based Great American Foundation.
On Wednesday, bartenders from opposing bars in and around the North End will meet up to whip up their original concoctions.
They’ll each square off in three rounds, making a sidecar with their own personal twist, a cocktail with Cointreau, and a signature cocktail.
Contestants will be judged on presentation, taste and style, and interaction with the audience.
The winners will move on to a competition scheduled for August.
Bars participating in Wednesday night’s event include Anthem Kitchen + Bar, The Greatest Bar, The Harp, Hurricane O’Reilly’s, Ned Devine’s Irish Pub, Porters Bar and Grill, and Sterling’s.
