A prominent Boston-area defense attorney could face charges in connection with an alcohol-fueled New Year’s Eve party at her suburban home hosted by her teenage daughter.
The 18-year-old son of Gov. Lincoln Chafee has been charged with violating the state’s “social host” law in connection with an alleged underage drinking party at the family’s horse farm.
A Lynn youth charged with hosting a party where an underage guest drank alcohol and was later involved in a fatal crash has pleaded guilty but will not spend any time behind bars at the request of the victim’s mother.
The state’s highest court rejected an attempt to expand civil laws covering responsibility for underage drinking at parties.
