A federal judge issued an emergency order Monday, placing a lien on the $800,000 seized at Whitey Bulger’s apartment.
“This guy should have been a supervisor with the marshal’s witness protection program. He did an outstanding job, the louse,” said Bill Keefer, a retired U.S. marshal.

Boston mob boss James “Whitey” Bulger was captured in a “ruse” near Los Angeles after 16 years on the run, authorities said Thursday.
Whitey Bulger and his girlfriend Catherine Greig were living as Charles and Carol Gasko in Santa Monica, California, according to U.S. Attorney Carmen Ortiz.
“This guy lived 16-and-a-half years of freedom which he never deserved,” Nightside host Dan Rea said after Whitey Bulger’s arrest was announced early Thursday.
