Many of this year’s Academy Award nominated movies have diverse story lines, casts, settings and endings. But some have at least one attribute in common: a Massachusetts link.
Nominations for Broadway’s Tony Awards will be announced Tuesday, but unlike most years, there no obvious front-runners for best musical or play and virtually no lock in the acting categories.
The con-artist comedy “American Hustle and the 3-D space odyssey “Gravity” lead the Academy Awards with 10 nominations each, including nods for best picture.
More surprising were snubs in the directing category, where three favorites missed out: Ben Affleck for “Argo” and past Oscar winners Kathryn Bigelow for “Zero Dark Thirty” and Tom Hooper for “Les Miserables.”
The Lumineers, Janelle Monáe, Sheryl Crow, Little Big Town and Chris Young join tonight’s show in Nashville.
