Barnes Air National Guard Base is holding a memorial service to honor the 13 members of its 104th Fighter Wing who have died on duty since 1948.
The Massachusetts Air National Guard will fly five F-15 fighter jets over eastern and southeastern parts of the state Thursday morning.
Lt. Col. Morris Fontenot was the inspector general for the 104th Fighter Wing and had had more than 2,300 flight hours of experience.
When Boston celebrates the Fourth of July next week, not all of the performers will be on the ground. The celebration on the Esplanade begins with a military flyover.
