2014 AUDITION PROCEDURES

HOW TO AUDITION

To audition, a candidate may attempt to audition during Round 1 at any of eleven (11) locations and on the dates specified below:

Round 1 Audition locations (“Locations”) and the dates and/or times for each round of the Audition are subject to change, and any changes will be broadcast on WBZ-FM (the “Station”) and will be reflected in an updated copy of these audition procedures posted on the Station’s website at http://www.sportshubsearch.com.

Eleven (11) candidates from the Round 1 Auditions will be selected to advance to Round 2. Four (4) Round 2 candidates will be selected to advance to the Final Round. At the conclusion of the Final Round, one (1) candidate will be selected as the Next On-Air Talent and, provided that such candidate satisfies the required qualifications, the Station may, but is not required to, offer such candidate the opportunity to provide weekend on-air services on Station, as described below.

Judging of candidates in each Round will be based on suitability to perform the services of an on-air radio personality for a sports talk-radio station. Judging will be performed by one or more Station management personnel (the “Judges”). The decisions of the Judges in each Round of the Audition are final. The procedures in each Round are subject to change at Station’s sole and absolute discretion.

Candidates may be video recorded and/or photographed in any of the Rounds of the Audition, and in consideration of participating in any Audition candidates grant to Station the right to use their name, likeness, portrait, recorded voice and image, and biographical material in order to advertise, promote or publicize the Station, its licensee, its parent and affiliated entities, and any sponsors of the Audition in any medium now known or hereinafter developed, without additional compensation to the candidate. Failure to appear on time at Round 2 or the Final Round may result in disqualification, and failure to appear at Round 2 or the Final Round will result in disqualification.

In the event that a candidate is disqualified to participate in Round 2 or the Final Round, the Station may select an alternate candidate, but is not obligated to do so.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The Audition is open to all persons 21 years of age and older. Employees of Station, its licensee, the licensee’s parent, subsidiary and affiliated entities, Station’s advertising and promotional agencies, its participating sponsors including MillerCoors LLC, and other radio stations in the Boston metropolitan area, as well as the members of their immediate families (spouse, parent, sibling or child) and those living in the same household of each (whether related or not) are not qualified to participate in any Round of the Audition.

Persons who on or after September 8, 2014, are (1) bound by any contractual or other obligations which would prevent him/her from accepting an on-air position with the Station; (2) subject to any restrictive covenants which would in any way hinder his/her ability to accept an on-air position with the Station; or (3) are unable for any reason to accept an on-air position with the Station, are ineligible to participate in any Rounds of the Audition.
Each candidate during Round 2 and the Final Round may be required to provide (1) valid government-issued photo identification and (2) his/her complete residence address (no P.O. box), date of birth and telephone number, and may be required to complete the Station’s employment applicant form. Station may perform a standard background check on any Round 2 or Final Round candidate and any such candidate may be disqualified if he/she (1) does not complete the necessary authorizations or otherwise cooperate with such background check, or (2) fails the background check. Additional reference material, such as birth certificate, may also be required to be provided by Final Round candidates.

If selected as the Next On-Air Talent and offered the opportunity to provide weekend on-air services on the Station, the candidate will be required to join United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America (“UE”) and to pay union dues. If the candidate has previously been expelled or suspended from UE, he/she may not be eligible to rejoin UE and may be disqualified.

If the candidate selected as the Next On-Air Talent and offered the opportunity to provide weekend on-air services on the Station is ineligible, fails to join UE, or is deemed unsuitable by Station management to host a radio program on Station, Station may select an alternative Potential On-Air Talent, but is not obligated to do so.

All candidates are required to provide truthful information. The Station will reject and eliminate any candidate who it discovers provided false or fraudulent information. The Station will reject and eliminate any candidate who does not meet the qualifications.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The candidate selected in the Final Round of the Auditions (the “Potential On-Air Talent”) may be offered the opportunity to provide weekend on-air services on the Station on terms and conditions as shall be determined by Station, in its sole discretion. The Station shall have the right, but not obligation, to use the Potential On-Air Talent’s on-air services at such weekend day and times as Station may from time to time designate and for the Potential On-Air Talent to be paid at the pre-tax rate of $17.69 per hour in exchange for the provision of such services (“Payment”).

The employment of the Potential On-Air Talent shall be subject to Station’s UE collective bargaining agreement and the Potential On-Air Talent will be required to join UE and to pay union dues. The Potential On-Air Talent will not be reimbursed for the expense of joining the union or for union dues and, due to the number of hours to be worked at the Station, the Potential On-Air Talent will not be eligible to participate in any of Station’s or UE’s health or other benefit plans.

The Potential On-Air Talent will be solely responsible for all taxes and all other fees and expenses not specified herein in connection with being selected as the Potential On-Air Talent. The Potential On-Air Talent will be responsible for following all of Station’s programming guidelines and other Station policies as directed by Station management. Selection as a Potential On-Air Talent in no way guarantees future employment.

The Potential On-Air Talent shall not have the right to substitute the employment opportunity for any other item of value or for the cash equivalent and shall not have the right to transfer or assign the opportunity to any other individual or entity. The Potential On-Air Talent shall not be entitled to anything other than the Payment and except as expressly specified, shall not be reimbursed in connection with any taxes or expenses associated with being selected as the Potential On-Air Talent. Other restrictions may apply.

ROUND 1 – REGISTRATION, SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION

Candidates must register on-line to participate in Round 1. To register, visit http://sportshubsearch.com and follow the links and instructions to register. Candidates must select one (1) Round 1 Audition site listed above that they will attend. Only the first one hundred (100) candidates who select a Round 1 Audition site will have an opportunity to audition at that site. Limit one (1) registration per eligible person. To be eligible, a candidate must register by 3:00pm ET on the day prior to the Round 1 Audition that the candidate selects.

A candidate must attend his or her chosen Round 1 Audition site, and must be on-site and checked in at least sixty (60) minutes prior to the start of the Round 1 Audition. If a candidate is unable for any reason to attend their chosen on-site Audition site on a timely basis, he or she will be disqualified.

Once checked in, each candidate will be given an on-air copy to read aloud, with each reading to be videotaped. The videotaped readings will be reviewed by the Judges to determine the best Candidate, based on suitability to perform the services of an on-air radio personality for a sports talk-radio station, at each of the Round 1 Audition sites. Candidates judged to be the best will be notified on or about July 18, 2014, and invited to move on to Round 2. There will be a maximum of eleven (11) candidates invited to Round 2. There is no guarantee that a candidate will be selected from each Round 1 Audition site.

ROUND 2 – SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION

Each Round 2 candidate will be interviewed by the Station’s Vice President of Programing and Assistant Program Director. Interviews will take place at the Station studios, 83 Leo M Birmingham Parkway, Brighton MA 02135, during the week of July 21, 2014. Interviews will be set at mutually agreeable times and dates to the extent possible. If a Round 2 candidate is unable or unwilling to be interviewed for any reason, he or she will be disqualified. The four (4) Round 2 candidates deemed to be the best by the Station’s Vice President of Programing and Assistant Program Director, based on suitability to perform the services of an on-air radio personality for a sports talk-radio station, will be invited to attend the Final Round. Final Round candidates will be notified on or about July 24, 2014 by telephone and email.

FINAL ROUND – SELECTION OF POTENTIAL ON-AIR TALENT AND NOTIFICATION

Date: Saturday, July 26, 2014
Time: 10pm-12 midnight
Location: Jerry Remy’s, 1265 Boylston Street, Boston, MA 02215

Each of the four (4) Final Round candidates will be asked to co-host a thirty (30) minute exchange with a Station personality. Each Final Round candidate will be judged by the Station’s Program Director and Assistant Program Director, who will select the Potential On-Air Talent based on suitability to perform the services of an on-air radio personality for a sports talk-radio station. The Potential On-Air Talent will be notified at the conclusion of the Final Round.
