Another Mass. State Trooper To Plead Guilty In Overtime Pay Scandal

BOSTON (AP) — A third Massachusetts State trooper has agreed to plead guilty to putting in for overtime pay for shifts he didn't work.

Federal prosecutors said Wednesday that 45-year-old Gary Herman of Chester will plead guilty to embezzlement from an agency receiving federal funds. Prosecutors say Herman, who's been suspended, collected more than $12,000 in overtime pay for hours he didn't work.

Herman is one of six troopers that have been charged in federal prosecutors' ongoing investigation into overtime fraud at state police. Two other troopers have pleaded guilty.

Prosecutors say the troopers submitted bogus citations to make it look like they were working shifts they either left early or didn't work at all.

Herman's lawyer didn't immediately respond to an email Wednesday.
