NightSide - Shots Fired, Congressman Hit
BOSTON (CBS) - Many have expressed concern in recent years over the escalating political rhetoric on both sides of the aisle. Today, that anger boiled over, and a gunman shot at a number of Republican Congressmen while they were participating in a baseball practice. Representative Steve Scalise was hit and is reportedly in critical-but-stable condition. The alleged gunman had volunteered for Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign, and his social media accounts showed strong anti-Trump and anti-Republican sentiments. Has our political dialogue become dangerously divisive? Do acts like Kathy Griffin's decapitation stunt and the NYC Julius Caesar / President Trump assassination scene provide inspiration or rationale for those already on the edge? How can we stop this type of violence from occurring?
