Massachusetts Is 3rd Safest State In America, Report Says

BOSTON (CBS) – If you're looking for a safe place to live, you can't do much better than Massachusetts and its neighbors.

WalletHub is out with a new list of America's safest states, and four of the top five are in New England.

Vermont comes in first, followed by Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota and New Hampshire.

The ranking looked at everything from "assaults per capita to unemployment rate to total loss amounts from climate disasters per capita."

Massachusetts had good marks across the board, even finishing in the top 10 when it comes to road safety.

Coming in as the least safe state was Mississippi.
