Car Slamming Into North Attleboro Home Sounded Like 'Huge Explosion'

NORTH ATTLEBORO (CBS) – Residents who were inside their North Attleboro home when a car slammed into the kitchen said the crash sounded "like an explosion" Thursday night.

Just before 10 p.m., a car driving on Forest Street went over a small ledge and slammed into the back of an Elm Street house.

Patti Simpson said she and her husband were in the nearby living room watching television.

"All of the sudden we heard this huge explosion," said Simpson.

"He says, 'Patti, there's a car in our house!' The car literally was inside the house suspended in air, and all you could see was the trunk sitting outside."

The wheels were still spinning following the crash and smoke was coming out of the exhaust, but the driver was able to turn off the ignition.

Simpson said the car was driven by a neighbor, who was OK after the crash.

The home was boarded up, and Simpson kept her sense of humor about the situation.

"We could do a drive-thru now," she joked.
