The trooper was in a marked cruiser heading south near exit 11 at the Boston-Milton line around 11:30 p.m. when his car was hit from behind by a BMW SUV.

That driver, identified by authorities as Reginald Pyram, 40, of Roxbury, was arrested and charged with operating under the influence (OUI).

The trooper was taken to Boston Medical Center where he was treated for neck and back pain.
