Red Sox' 2017 Spring Training Will Begin On February 14

BOSTON (CBS) -- Get out your calendar. Red Sox season is just around the corner.

Winter has yet to arrive in Boston, but the team is already looking ahead to spring. The team announced the start date for spring training on Friday, which will get underway on February 14, 2017 at JetBlue Park in Lee County, Florida when pitchers and catchers hold their first workout of the spring.

The team's first full squad workout will take place on February 17, and the Red Sox will play their first exhibition game on Thursday, February 23, at 1:05 p.m. against the Northeastern University Huskies.

Boston's Grapefruit League schedule will begin at JetBlue Park the following day on Friday, February 24, against the New York Mets. The Sox will have 19 total games at JetBlue Park next spring, including a World Baseball Classic exhibition game against Team USA on March 9.

Of course, none of this will mean anything until the famous equipment truck departs Fenway Park, better known as "Truck Day" in Boston. That amazing day will take place on Monday, February 6, a signal that warmer times are just around the corner.
