1M Massachusetts Voters Cast Ballots In 1st Early Voting

BOSTON (AP) — More than 1 million registered voters in Massachusetts have cast their ballots in the upcoming presidential contest in the state's first-ever early voting period.

More than 21 percent of the electorate had cast their ballots by Friday night, the end of early voting.

Voters can still cast absentee ballots until Monday at noon but must have valid reasons, like they're going out of town or they're sick. About 136,000 people have returned absentee ballots.

The state has 4.5 million registered voters. Polls will be open Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. so voters can pick Democrat Hillary Clinton, Republican Donald Trump or someone else for president.

Residents who want to vote on Election Day can check the state's election website to find their polling locations.
