New England Residents Wake Up To Rare Sunrise Rainbow

BOSTON (CBS) – New England residents who woke up with the sun on Saturday morning were greeted to a fairly rare sight.

As the sun rose Saturday morning, so did a full rainbow, which could be seen throughout the region.

Residents from several towns shared pictures of the rainbow, which was easily visible just around 7:15 a.m.

WBZ-TV meteorologist Barry Burbank said rainbows are more regularly seen at sunset as opposed to in the early morning.

"It is relatively rare to have the perfect conditions to create, simultaneously, a stunning sunrise and rainbow. This usually happens in the late afternoon to early evening," Burbank said.
