BOSTON (CBS) – Charlton, Massachusetts is having an issue with the local beaver population. Guelphwood Road had been regularly flooded for more than a decade due to neighborhood beaver dams, and the town has been forced to close the road multiple times every year. The road is now currently closed indefinitely, but a new proposal would address the issue by going after the root cause. The plan, which the town selectmen approved unanimously, includes killing the beavers in order to ensure they don’t come back to the area. Do you think it is necessary to kill the beavers in order to keep the local roads safe? Or is this a step too far?
