Truck Slams Into Dedham Home

BOSTON (CBS) – One person was hospitalized after a truck crashed into a home in Dedham near the Boston city line.

Firefighters believe a driver suffered a medical emergency and crashed into a home on Bonad Drive around 8a.m. on Saturday.

Don, who lives in the home, says he was in the shower when he heard he heard the crash.

"And when it hit it felt like a meteor hit the house," Don said. "The whole thing just shook."

Don says his wife in the bedroom when the pick-up truck drove through it.

"It pushed the bureau over and everything, fortunately she was on the other side of the bed and she didn't get injured," he said.

Don says the driver of the truck was his neighbor who lives just a few houses away. Right now it's still unclear how he got enough speed to go through the brick wall and into his home.

"I am just stunned, the amount of damage by a truck, you would think a tractor trailer went through here," Don's daughter-in-law said.

Impact from the collision caused damage to the home and a wall in the front yard.

"He was apparently coming home and might have passed out at the wheel. I don't know he has a lot of medical issues and went through the wall," Don said.

Don and his wife have lived here for 45 years and just completed renovated the home.

"I think if the wall was not there it would've been a lot worse," Don said. Police are still investigating.

So far no charges have been filed.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.
