WATCH: Martellus Bennett Catches His First TD Pass As A Patriot

Ryan Mayer

The Patriots added tight end Martellus Bennett in the offseason in the hopes that he would combine with Rob Gronkowski to form a two headed monster combination for Jimmy Garoppolo/Tom Brady to throw to. That hasn't come to fruition quite yet with Gronk missing the first two games due to injury, but, Bennett is still making his presence felt.

After catching just three passes for 14 yards in the opener at Arizona, Bennett and Garropolo connected on a touchdown pass early against the Dolphins.

"I'm a blue collar football player," Bennett said after the 31-24 New England victory. "Whether it's a 5-yard pass and you break two tackles and get 8 yards, whatever it is, that's what I do so. Man, I'm just here to play football and have fun. I'm just having a lot of fun right now with these guys. I love my teammates. I love the coaches. I love this environment and these fans and, for me that's all it's really about, just going out there and doing the things I love to do, and have fun doing it. I haven't had this much fun in a long time in the NFL and I think it's making a big difference for me. Because when it's fun, it's much easier to go out there and play."

The score put the Pats up 14-0 over their AFC East rival in the first quarter. Bennett finished Sunday's game as New England's leading receiver with 114 yards on five catches.
